Mama to Two
two GIRLS
I never pictured myself as a mother to two girls. Steve never pictured us having two girls, either. We think it has to do with the fact that neither of us have a sister. I always wanted a sister, and I'm so excited that Jessica and Izzy have each other as sisters. I know when they get older they are going to get annoyed with me telling them how I never had a sister, and how lucky they are to have one. :) But yeah, never pictured it myself.
Its been so awesome to have to girls. To be a mother to two- it helps me remember all the small things that Jessica did as a baby that I haven't thought of in forever. It also made me realize how fast that times flew by- and makes me appreciate it so much more this time around with Izzy. Sure, newborns are a lot of work- Izzy basically lives on me. I can't get much of anything done. But it goes by so fast, and they are only newborns for such a short time. Izzy also made me realize how big and old Jessica has gotten, and reminds me of how proud I am of her :)
Its been hard, too. Not the baby part, its a piece of cake the second time. But its hard to find the balance. To make sure that Jessica is getting enough of her mommy fix, since most of my time is devote to Izzy. Its crazy to have to children who both need me, but for such different reasons. (Being a mom is pretty freakin amazing :) ) Its hard to know that I'm doing the right thing, to encourage the sisters to bond (as much as they can), to know that they both know that I love them both just the same.
Mostly though ,its been great. Amazing, really. I'm so glad that the baby part is so much easier this time so I can really appreciate it. I felt normal SO much sooner, which helps me play with Jessica and do all my mommy duties for her.
I love watching Jessica give Izzy kisses and show her off to her friends. I can't wait till Izzy is able to show Jessica how much she loves her big sister. I can't wait to see them play tea party and dress up together, to walk to school together, to share clothes, gossip about cute boys at school, be each others maids of honor and aunts to each others babies. Well, actually, I can wait. Right now I'm taking in as much as I can of my babies :) Yep, I'm loving life as a Mama to two beautiful girls :)
