best bath ever!!!

so Jessica took a bath with me last night. my first bath in 11 weeks. it was the only way i could get a bath!!! (don't worry, i still shower every day!). she LOVED it. she was so excited! kicking and splashing and showing off. i think we have a water baby on our hands- i'm looking into baby swim lessons for her for this summer! (she already has 2 bikinis!!!). seriously was the best bath ever, its going to be a weekly tradition :)

now, some pictures, taken by my friend jackie and muriel

seriously, those cheeks!

still practicing with the chair!
a family pic, and my new hair! i'll post my favorite pic later
i have an 8 x 10 baby picture of me at 3 months that we held up next to jessica. um, we have the same nose....... (and eye shape!) but mostly she looks like her daddy...

and yeah, this is the best picture ever. jessica's angry face. don't mess with her!!!

TUBBERS

wow, its been awhile since i've last posted! life is extremely busy with a baby, thats for sure, and there is only so much i can do with one hand............

jessica had her 2 month appointment. 21 inches long, 55th percentil for height, at 39cm head circumfrence, she was about the 50th percentile for head, and coming in at a whooping 13 pounds 7 ounces, 95th percentile for weight! thats my short, chubby baby girl for you! then she had to get her shots. i was joking around saying i'd probably cry, and didn't realize that i actually would! luckily the nurse was super quick, she didn't start crying till the second shot- but she look at me (and i had to hold her little arms. so horrible!) with a surprised look and then just started to SCREAM- and i burst into tears. she had a total of 3 shots (and one "oral shot") and then the nurse left us. i ended up crying longer than jessica because the minute she started to nurse she was fine, and i was still sobbing. wow, being a mommy sure is emotional! but she survived, only got a slight temperature the next day- nothing a little infant tylenol wouldn't cure!

she also got her first little cold. and i cried then, too. i'm kinda thinking it wasn't a real cold though, cause it didn't seem to bother her at all, just a little sneezing and runny nose. it could be allergies, because everyone is saying that since she's a breastfed baby she shouldn't have gotten a cold. who knows. as long as she's ok, right?

it was also my bday on the 17th. my first birthday as a mom! it defiently was different- especially since i almost forgot my bday was coming up! i remember on st. patricks day (because its a month before, the 17th) and realized that most years by then i'd already have my big bday celebration all planned out! we went out to dinner with some friends the saturday before, and i was so nervous. jessica STILL wasn't taking a bottle, and had recently developed an extreme case of "the mommies" (i.e. wouldn't let ANYONE else hold her). so i decided to plan the dinner after what is usually jessica's last feeding time for the night, feed jessica before we leave, and then hope she just sleeps the whole time we were gone.

so we arrive at steve's parents house (the babysitters for the evening) and i try to feed her. but i swear she knew what we were doing! she did not want to eat and just SCREAMED! it took 20 minutes for me to calm her down (which is a very long time for her). so i went to put her in her stroller, and she started to cry again, and so i started to cry. that was our cue to just leave. and it was so hard- i hated leaving her screaming! but she fell asleep just a few minutes later. steve's parents called us to let us know that she had fallen asleep :). i only called once to check in, and she was still sleeping. and when we arrived to pick her up 3 hours later- she had just finished 4 ounces (i pumped) in her bottle!!!!! woo hoo!

so what if she hasn't taken one since..................

we also had our first holiday with jessica- Easter. And she screamed through the entire meal.............

anyways, i'm loving watching jessica grow. she coos and talks and laughs all the time now, and she even has a new best friend! the monkey on her mat. she talks to it, tells it jokes- and then laughs. its pretty amusing :) and i love all her tubbers! just want to squeeze her all the time! we're still working on her sleep habits- she only sleeps in her swing, the sling, or my bed. but i'm not worried, she's still young, i know i won't have a college age daughter in bed with me............

anyways- now for some pictures!!!

watching the Padres with her daddy:
check out the new sling- she can help me cook, clean, do dishes............
makes mama and baby very happy
see, all snug as a bug!!!
here's her best friend: mr. monkey. they were having a serious conversation............
check out her easter outfit! so freakin cute. had ruffles on the toush too, so cute! yeah, she popped all over it like 10 minutes later............. and notice mommy- first time she did her hair and makeup in over two months!!!! (and it took forever. i have since chopped off 7 inches and dyed it, making the getting ready time much easier!!)
my bday night. yes- i am a breast feeding mama and proud of it!
yeah, the hair- just had to show how ridiculously long it was, and how i could do nothing with it! i'll try to take an updated picture soon.............

we still need a *good* family picture. maybe this weekend i'll do my hair and makeup and we'll dress nicely........... we'll see if that happens!!!!

hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!!!! i know i will :)

2 months

(even Jessica looks a bit anxious about how big she's gotten!!)

at 2 months Jessica is :
-holding her head fabulously
-sometimes digging tummy time- she pushes up with her arms when she's in the mood
-she smiles lots, especially at mommy
-she tries to laugh, sounds more like a little cough but the HUGE smile makes it worth it
-she would live on mommy if she could
-she's figured out that she can keep her binky in her mouth if she puts her arm in front of it to keep it from popping out!
-she loves her bath now, HATES getting out
-she stands when she gets excited (being held, of course- she doesn't have any balance)
-she's almost out of her 0-3 month clothes
-she's gaining almost a pound a week- though i think its starting to finally slow down
-she wears size 2 pampers (huggies always leak)
-her eyes are getting super blue
-she has more rolls of tub than i can count
-she's starting to go bald- and i'm pretty sure the next layer of hair thats coming in is blond
-she sleeps at least a stretch of 4 hours at night, 7 hours between feedings at times!
-never had her days and nights mixed up
-but she thinks she's a big kid and doesnt' need naps, unless its in her swing or while mommy is holding her...
-she's the most perfect baby girl ever, and her mommy and daddy love her very much!

just look at how much she has grown in just two months!!!!!

(Jessica, 4 days old- and those pants, dont' even fit her anymore!!!!)

So so busy!!!!

So, on top of me working waaaay too much (but we did find a new assistant who just started, so hopefully i'll be able to spend more quality time with jessica now! and not chase after a bunch of two year olds while jess hangs out in my sling- which, i must add, she is starting to out grow)
we have been super busy!!!
Jessica is growing fast, and i mean growing! there is a new roll of fat everyday, its hysterical! Last weigh in she was 12 lbs 9 ozs. Go girl!
My parents left last week. I'm very sad, I miss them tons. I know that they'll be back soon to visit, but I really wish that they'd just move here! Seriously, who wouldn't want to live in sunny San Dieog???? I was stresssed that I wouldn't be able to cook dinner or do laundry by myslef, on top of working and jessica, but we manged (thank goodness for dream dinners!!!! seriously, saved me. any preggo's out there- um, Darcy?, hit up dream dinners before you have your baby. they're awesome!). I'm loving Jessica more and more everyday, and she's becoming quite a character herself. She smiles lots, and is trying to laugh, which comes out like a little fake cough. She is super strong, can push her self up when she wants, and is always pushing her legs to stand up strait. And she's a tunker. I never thought i'd have such a chubby baby! But its adorable. She's almost out of her 0 -3 month clothes, and she's not even 2 month yet! Yep, babies do grow fast!
Ok, so here are some of the latest pictures:
She has learned to love her swing (once i figured out it laid down so she wasn't sliding all over it) and its a nice place for her to nap- especially at dinner time when i'm trying to cook!
She's been practicing sitting up. Love this little chair!!!!!
I still put bows on her all the time. and lots of pink. She's totally going to go goth when she's a teenager.........
She went on her first field trip with Shuckle-berries preschool!!!! Check out the tie-dyed onesies she was sportin'. All the kids have these shirts (including me) and we wear them on fieldtrip days. We went to the botanical gardens that day, fun fun! SHe was also sporting her Hawkeye beanie she got from my aunt. And notice her little friends on her carseat. She stares at them like they're crazy, then at me like i'm crazy for calling them her friends. Do we know how to have a good time or what?
Lots of smiles and laughing!!!!
apparently I'm quite amusing to a six week old.....
Seriously, does it get cuter? And it makes waking up in the middle of the night so much easier when she's smiling away!
Here she is sporting her Finish way too big for her bib. love the expression
She's been practing her conversation skills. Getting pretty good, too
We went on her first road trip to Big Bear, where she got to dress like a ski bunny (even though all the snow was pretty much melted). She got to wear her fabulous pink ugg boots too! Very cute. I swear we go places just so she can wear certain outfits................
And lastly, since she's been putting on a new roll everyday, she's been practicing her best Chris Farley impression. I think she does it pretty well. We may have a future SNL-er on our hands.............
Love the chubba wubba. And like I said, the new assistant just started, so I'm hoping I'll be able to do more posts. We have bazillions of pictures of her. And even more stories. Sorry to anyone thats emailed or called and I havne' tgotten back to, life has been insane!!!! Hoping its going to get a little smoother now..
Have a fabulous week everyone!!!!
