I'm like a turtle.........

This is what Steve tells me the other night, after laughing at my attempts to get out of bed. nice........ but its true, and it made me laugh

So, here are a few things happening at 5 months

-I am a turtle. I can't sit up, so when/if i'm on my back, i like fail around as i try to turn over to get up. quite amusing apparently

-I'm getting tired of sleeping on my left side already. oh dear...........

-I finally look pregnant. Though not from behind, or so people tell me. I'm not sure how you look pregnant from behind, seeing how the belly is in front of you.

-I realized I won't be able to use my robe in a few months. Now what todo on those super cold mornings?

-The baby's kicks are getting way stronger, and I now feel the baby even when I'm standing (though not when I'm active). I'm starting to worry that baby may need a ritalin perscription right at birth......

-Confused on this half way point- 20 weeks (i'm 21 weeks now, just never posted this before). so if the pregnancy last 9 months, how is 5 months/20 weeks the half way point? Something doesn't add up here.......

Ok, enough of my random thoughts. Here are a few of the pics taken during my 5 months photoshoot (we've decided its the lighting in baby's room. so for future refrence, don't take photo shoots in baby's room........ too late now!)

had to throw this one in. i think i mention how i'm loving my funky vans? yep- here i am sportin them. so do i look like a hip pregnant woman, or like a pregnant woman who wishes she was younger???
didn't like these pics, but had to throw one in cause you can see how big the boobas are getting. the top botton is like about to bust off. crazy! but you knwo i love it ;)
i'll take this one off in a few days, but just a pic so you can see what i see everyday. i think its funny with my belly bump. poor blake was so annoyed i was taking a picture instead of picking him up.......
Hope everyone has a fabulous hump day! ;)

Baby's First Picture
Yay! We finally got to see baby for the first time today. (Well, besides the very first ultrasound at 6 1/2 weeks when baby looked like a bean. that didnt' really count)
I was nervous, but mostly super excited. My trainer had told me to drink lots of water beforehand so that my bladder would be full- that this would make for clearer pictures. She also told me to eat carbohydrates about a half hour before, so that the baby would be active. "this will be the only time I'll tell you to go eat some french fries" she said. Then this morning at my yoga class we were talking about the stress test you get at the end of the pregnancy, and I heard the same thing about carbohydrates, and even some caffeine. Once again, to make sure baby is active and awake.
So, at 11 I make Steve take me through the drive through at McDonalds. We both get a cheeseburger and shared a large fries and Mr. Pibb. Keep in mind that I dont' drink caffeine- haven't for almost five years now. So we eat up, I drink a little soda (seriously not equivalent to even half a can. I didn't feel any caffeine effects), and filled up on carbs. I had a little talk with baby, about how us Post's are photogenic and baby needs to get used to the camera. And then we headed to the dr's.
And my bladder was super full.
When we get to the apointment a half hour later, I was relieved when the nurse said I didn't need to have a full bladder. Whew.
So we're waiting for the Dr. and I can sort of feel baby moving around.
Then the Dr. comes in. We have our video and DVD in place to record the whole ultrasound. (the video records all the movement, the DVD just keeps the pictures)
When the dr. first shows us the baby, its the top of baby's head, so not that exciting. And I'm laying on my back, wanting to pick my head up to get a good look. But i had to lay flat. He's showing us the head, then the tummy, and then the femur bone in the leg- good to know baby has bones! None of this is super obvious baby pics, but it was exciting nonetheless. I did get teary eyed, but didnt' full on cry cause I was trying too hard to see everything.
I was surprised when he turned the 2D black and white ultrasound to the 4D pictures (this type of ultrasound is much more real looking. a nd usually you have to pay at least $99). I didn't realize that he was going to do that- I just figured the only way to see those types of sonograms/ultrasound was to go to the special place. So i was really excited. This way insurance covered it! These pictures are so much easier to see the baby. We saw the baby moving around, and apparently the baby was moving a lot, too much to get a decent picture! Oops. Sounds like baby was bouncing of the uterine walls. Didn't tell the Dr. about my french fries and caffeine kick. ...........
But we saw baby, moving hands and feets, yawning or talking or something. And since it is my child, I'm going to assume it was trying to talk about something random and irrelevant. Probably about how excited it was to finally taste caffeine for the first time.
Sometimes the movements would kinda blur it and the baby would look kinda alien-like. But we did get a good shot of the babies face, that was have since watched at least 6 or 7 times. Steve says baby has my nose. I don't see it as my nose so much, but I do see a resemblance to the Adams family ;)
The Dr. was good at not showing us baby's sex. The nurse told us that 95% of the patients find out the sex! I was surprised. Guess we're really weird. The dr. did tell us at one point that we may want to close our eyes, cause baby may flash- but it was still in 2D mode, so i told him I wouldn't be able to tell anyways.
Unfortch, the Dr. didn't get the best picture (the pictures were taken basically from the moving film), and so far we can't figure out how to turn the video into pictures. So right now I just have a few ultrasound pics, mostly the 2D. I'm sure your'e done with me rambling and just want to see baby, right?
So, with out further ado, here is Baby Post!!!!!
the top of baby's head. and baby's hands are to the right

the femur bone. always good. and we think baby's little booty to the bottom left. awwwww

baby's back- the spinal cord! crazy. kinda creepy. but good to know that baby has its bones!

this is baby's heart beat, which we also heard. 156 beats per minute. i thought that sounded fast, but its right on for baby! (the heart is between the double lines in the middle)
here's the 4D. Now this is one where its kinda disorted. making baby look slighty alien-esque. But, still quite baby like! you can see the eyes', nose, mouth, chin. very cool. and when moving around, baby didn't look so scary- more like a cute baby :)

here are baby's legs. you can see the feet at the top, and the legs going down
this one is kind hard to see at first, but baby's back is to the left side and baby is facing the right. you can see baby's profile and little arms and hands

So my only advice is, if you don't drink caffenine, don't try to drink a little to wake baby up to get good pics. I'm sure the french fries would have been fine......
My next post will be the 5 month pics of me. I'm getting big! Luckily this last weigh in was only 5 pounds more, more on track. MUCH better than 12 pounds!!!!!! Makking my total weight gain about 20 pounds. I think that sounds ok for my half way mark. And the Dr. hasn't said a thing about gaining too much. But today we learned that baby is almost 1 pound. So what the hell is the other 19 pounds I've gained for??? Anyways, hope you all enjoyed the Baby Post pictures :) :)

Barefoot and Pregnant in the Kitchen..........

yep, thats me. i think its every feminists worst nightmare- but i love it. steve's the one who pointed it out the other night as i was cooking dinner. "barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen- and i love it" he said. me too :) but maybe the barefoot part is why my feet are hurting so bad...

the baby's kicks are getting a lot stronger. to the point where sometimes i think that i can feel them on the outside as well (but i can't). there will be times when i'm just resting that i want to feel baby kick, and then nothing. its usually at night when i'm in bed and reading. and after a little while. i guess i need to get used to the fact that baby is going to kick when baby wants! i know that this will be an overall theme in baby's life- and i'm gonna have to get used to it!!!!
the baby's kicks are also really interesting to me- what is the baby doing? it is on purpose? is baby practicing for some martial arts tournament? or is it just a reflex? most newborn babies that I'VE met, aren't very active. so i'm kinda confused on why baby is boppin around so much. seriously, sometime i feel sommersaults (sp?). i'm gonna ask my doctor on saturday, but if anyone out there knows- feel free to fill me in!!!!

brings me to my last point- my doctors appointment. my 5 month appointment- wowza, that went fast!!!! but this is the appointment where i get to see baby in the ultrascan. i'm sooooooooooo freakin excited (but remember- we aren't finding out the sex!) but a little nervous too. i just want everything to be good and have a healthy baby. and make sure that baby doesnt' have 10 noses and 5 arms or something........ i haven't had any of those nightmares i read are common in pregnancy about having deformed babies. but i still worry. but mostly- i 'm really excited!!!! so next week, not only will you get to see my growing budda belly 5 month pics, you'll also get to see baby!!!!
i know I'M excited
stay tuned...........

Random pregnancy thoughts............
here are a few random things going on with preggo me right now

-starting to get forgetful. i forgot to make my bed the other day, and didn't notice till i went to bed that night. its a part of my morning routine, so i don't know what happened.......... i've read and been told that its totally a part of pregnancy to get forgetful. i've heard its loss of sleep (which i don't really feel like i'm suffering from) and another guy told me that its been proven that the womans brain shrinks when she's pregnant. don't know if i like that idea. either way, its happening to me. shoot

-I just took out my belly ring. much to the delight of my mother, i'm sure. i wasnt' sure when i was going to have to do it. i don't think my belly button is going to "pop" to an outtie (i have a deep innie) but i figured i won't be able to wear the belly ring that long. good thing i took it out now though- it was kinda hard to pull it out!!! just starting to get used to the blingless belly- i've had that ring for eight years now!!!! but i think it helps my belly look more pregnant and less fat/bloated.....

-starting to get super duper mild heartburn. uh oh. for those of you who don't know, i have acid reflux. horrible horrible disease (i think thats what it is) where you get heart burn. and heart burn SUCKS. before it was diagnosed, i would fall asleep sitting up, holding my tums (hammer, if you're reading this, remember that? freshman year.) anyways, i've been taking prevacid for seven years for it. got two different dr's ok to take during pregnancy. so i was hoping i wouldn't have to deal with heart burn at all. everyone keep your fingers crossed for me that i don't get any.....

-SO stoked on all my recent online purchases. actually been getting compliments on my $2.50 tshirts from Old Navy (thanks darcy!). i think its partly cause its the first new article of clothing i've worn to work in four months! i've been wearing the same t-shirts over and over again....... and here's my tip to all preggo women to be- invest in a good pair of jeans! i'm a firm believer in a good pair of jeans- and that includes when you're pregnant. makes me feel so much cuter!

-a lot of people have been asking about what diaper bag i want. i have yet to find one. i'm a huge purse person- i would rather get a really cute, big purse. i don't know. so i'm searching. if anyone knows of a good place to find one, let me know!

-my feet hurt. bad. and nothing so far has helped. and steve doesn't really do foot rubs. he tries to barter with me. um, how about the fact that i'm carrying your child?! so if anyone has advice on this, i'm willing to try anything! i'm only half way there people, and its going to get worse!

-still loving my prenantal yoga. and i started working out with a trainer at my gym. i had just purchased some sessions- i wanted to lose my afterthe wedding weight gain before we had baby. but i got pregnant a littl sooner than expected, so i had to put them off. anyways, so i started last week. so nice to go work out with a trainer and not be ridiculously sore the next day!

and thats just some of the things going on.
sorry to be so random. hope you all are having a fabulous weekend with non-aching feet!!!!

starting a tradition...........
ok, maybe tradition isn't the correct work, more like routine. but when i go to turn this into a scrapbook page, "tradition" is a much better title than "routine."
ANYWAYS.
and that routine/tradition is
reading to baby before bed. a tradition with me and steve and baby.
my good friend Erin sent us Oh, baby, the places you'll go! by Dr. Seuss - a book to be read in Utereo. (very similar to The Places you'll go, also by Dr. Seuss, who became fasicinated with the discovery that a baby in utereo will recognize its fathers voice if the father reads to the baby while in utereo. something like that)

Steve also read in one of his daddy to be books that i bought him, that its good to start a routine with the baby. to tap the belly and let the baby know that you're going to read. so thats just what he does.
"tap tap- time for a story baby" (he rubs my belly and kinda taps it while he says this)
so cute
we dont' read it every every night, but a couple of times a week. i can tell steve really likes it, it gives him a way to be close to the baby. i know that a lot of times dad's can feel left out when the wife is pregnant because the mom and baby have all this bonding time that the dad can't be apart of. so this is a perfect way. defiently reccomend it to any parents to be, and thanks to erin for the book!!!

i've decided that internet shopping is a must for pregnant women.
its been SO fabulous! i usually stay away from shopping online, cause that can get dangerous. but since i'm always exhausted and cant' even find time to go to a mall, let a lone a mall that actually has pregnancy stores.
so i've turned to the internet ;)
i bgought the cute sling and a pregnancy pillow at babycenter.com. they were on sale. and i know that some poeple say the pillow is a waste of money, but i think those people have huge beds. if i were to use regular pillows between my legs, i would have to kick steve out of the bed. and i don't want that, i like having him there! so anyways, i'm excited about those. i acctually tested the sling out on one of my preschoolers. actually two of them, but one little girl was too big!!!! my 12 month old- he loved it! he had the biggest grin on his face the whole time. so it'll work out perfectly for me and baby!
my blogger friend darcy alerted me to a sale at oldnavy.com (thanks darcy!) and made me remember that i had coupons of 10 percent off at both oldnavy and gap- and i only had one day left to use them! so i got my shop on. still waiting for those packages...........
but friday i got my big splurge present to myself. a pair of sevens jeans from a pea in the pod. they were on sale (and apparently all sold out now- no longer on the webpage!) and SO worth it. i put them on, and the fit like my old jeans!!!!! well, close enough. they defiently looked like normal jeans, not baggy everywhere.
i paired it with a cute top i just got from my friend jackie- who knows how much i love a good booba shirt (thanks jackie!) and some new shoes- and i felt cute!!!!!! so i made steve take me on a date night ;)
i look huge in this picture. but you can see my cute new jeans (the pockets are the best part though!) and shirt. yay for feeling cute again!!!!! and yay for internet shopping!!!! woo hooo :)
